FIRST IMPRESSIONS: RIMMEL LONDON SCULPTING PALETTE

So I was having a quick browse in Boots on my lunch break the other day, and I picked up one of Rimmel London's sculpting palettes. It was on an introductory offer and I've been tempted to pick one up a few times now but yesterday I finally swapped a £5 note for it.

I picked up the colour 003 Golden Bronze. I wanted to do a first impressions post on it as I've used it once and I've swatched it on the back of my hand multiple times.

When I did the swatch in the store I was surprised at the contour powder the most. Call me judgemental but I honestly expected it to come out orange-toned like a lot of drugstore bronzers that I've tried in the past. But it's not orange-toned, like, at all. It's warm toned, but not orange. It's matte so it's perfect for contouring, but it still gives your cheeks a muted glow. I'll admit, I didn't realise I brought the darkest shade of this product at the time, and I'm quite pale, so I need to blend it quite a lot - I could've done with 002 - but I can still work with it pretty easily.

I noticed that the highlighter wasn't very pigmented. But I kind of like that, as all of my other highlighters are so glowy it's like someone has thrown glitter in my face (not quite, but you know what I mean). Whereas, this highlighter is subtle, and it's perfect if you want a light shimmer for work or school.

The blush is gorgeous. It's pigmented enough to create blushed rosy cheeks without completely overdoing it, if you remember to tap off some of the product from the brush first. I love the golden shimmer running through it, it reminds me of the summer time which I'm desperately excited for.

Overall, I'm impressed. I'm definitely going to continue wearing it for the next few days. It's also pretty long-lasting too I should say - I'm sitting here typing this after wearing it for 9-ish hours and it hasn't faded/smudged at all.

My rating? 8/10

I'd say it's worth purchasing, you get really good quality for your money and it's perfect for those who prefer subtle make-up over dramatic looks (we all do sometimes, don't we?).

  3. I'm usually not one for contouring but I might give it a try since this is so affordable and the colors are so nice! Thanks for sharing.
